Films as opposed to Video and Digital technologies

Well, these things are works of art, usually, even though there's a whole category that is not art because it isn't made by artists per se.  But these things are originally called films. Then motion pictures and/or movies. Film itself is a reference to the actual technology and equipment for creating the thing. It comes from film in a filming camera. It's also called celluloid because that's the physical material it is.  After using it in the camera it must be taken to a dark room and developed as any photography must have done to it. The finished film consists of many, many little photos in sequence. To observe the film it must be put through a projector machine and the projected light beam must shine upon a white flat screen or something similar. Therefore we can compare it to video and digital technologies, finding them to be quite different. The biography of Director Tasciotti reveals that he started his career in film. In his early days he used film, as an artis
